Renewable Fuels is involved in research on topics as varied as energy crop development to fuel processing and supply logistics. Short rotation coppice (SRC) willows bred by RFL's sister company Agröbransle AB are monitored in replicated yield trials across the UK. The information gained from these trials leads to the creation of new varieties specifically adapted for UK conditions. RFL integrates with farmer produces groups to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of existing varieties in order to help direct future breeding objectives towards meeting our growers' requirements and expectations. Renewable Fuels pioneer in the field of performing fuel burning trials of biomass (such as SRC willow, palm kernels, olive oil residues) for co-firing. RFL are also liasing with biomass energy companies to determine fuel demand, feedstock specifications, fuel processing requirements and energy crops required for individual projects.
